A Little Bit of History

The name, Japanese Akita-Inu is the name that the UK Kennel Club chose to call the breed when they announced their decision to divide the Akita registry October 2004.  Since January 1st 2006 in the UK the Japanese Akita Inu is no longer mixed with the Akita (American Akita) for showing or breeding purposes.

Our first import was Canadian Champion, Sanmark Sunsation No Sunojo, "Sunny".

Sunny was the full brother of Richard Hellman's world Champion "Shinzo".

Shinzo is behind many Akita-Inu in Europe today and although not used a lot, Sunny has played an important role in getting the breed recognised in the UK (October 2004) as a separate breed which is known as The Japanese Akita-Inu.

We no longer have any of "Sunny's" bloodline in our kennels since none of them, unfortunately would have met the criteria laid down by the kennel Club when the breed was split.

After the loss of Sunny's lines we imported some akitas but, we found them to be unsuitable.  We were fortunate to be allowed to have a stunning male from Roberto & Giovanna's Kajitsu kennels in Italy.  He was a son of Kakusui, their World Winner and we were able to restart our Akita Inu kennels once again.

We were very lucky to have Kajitsu No Hinomaru-Go (Maru), a son of Kakusui - Kajitsu Kennels World Champion 2002 Amsterdam.

Maru was followed by Geyko from Yossi Rotshild, Royal Nippon Akitos, Israel.
